AtOLOnia

Children’s book and comic author and illustrator.

Antonio Ordóñez (Madrid, 1987) signs his work as AtOLOnia to reconnect with the magical world of his childhood. Ato, as his friends call him, was a child who spent hours with a spiral notebook and grid paper, drawing the characters from his favorite comics and inventing his own.

Like a superhero, he always led a double life. In the mornings he studied Business and Marketing at university; in the afternoons, you could find him breakdancing in the subway, performing with a university theater group, or filling notebooks with graffiti. His artistic training never came from academies: it was built through study, exploration, constant practice, and a genuine need to express himself. Comics returned to his life in 2015 as a natural form of expression, and since then he has fully embraced the identity of his alter ego, AtOLOnia.

This self-taught journey, combined with his passion for drawing and storytelling, allowed him to become a professional illustrator in 2019, without giving up his own stories for children. In the field of picture books, he has self-published his children’s titles Rexi aprende (2021) and Mi granito de arena (2020), and has been a finalist in competitions such as Keycolors 2022 (an international picture book contest) and the Hola Monstruo Editorial Contest 2023.

In 2025, he published his first work as both author and illustrator: Las diminutas aventuras de Abril (Edebé), a children’s comic series.
